Inclement Weather Update
As we approach the winter season, we would like to share with our rural school communities that going forward, school bus cancellations will no longer automatically result in the closure of rural schools during inclement weather. Unless otherwise communicated, schools will remain open.
This change reflects the Board’s commitment to maintaining school operations whenever possible while continuing to prioritize the safety of students and staff.
Please continue to monitor Lakehead Public Schools, Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay and media alerts for important information during weather events. If you have not done so, please return emergency contact and verification forms to your student’s school in order to ensure a smooth process during an early dismissal or unscheduled closure.
